Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve
This 55-hectare subtropical rainforest is one of Maleny’s most loved attractions. The easy rainforest loop track is perfect for all ages, and you’ll spot everything from pademelons to colourful birdlife along the way. The highlight, however, is the lookout over the Glass House Mountains, a view you won’t forget.

Kondalilla Falls National Park
Just a short drive from Maleny, Kondalilla Falls offers a rainforest walk that leads to a stunning waterfall and rock pools. You can choose from the shorter Picnic Creek Circuit or take the full Kondalilla Falls Circuit for a more rewarding hike. A refreshing swim at the base of the falls is the perfect reward.
Gardner’s Falls
Located on Obi Obi Creek, Gardner’s Falls is a favourite local swimming spot just minutes from Maleny town. A short, flat walk takes you to the cascades, where you can picnic, paddle, or simply relax in nature.
Mapleton Falls Lookout
Further along the range, Mapleton Falls Lookout gives you sweeping views across the Obi Obi Valley and Mapleton Falls. Even if you’re not up for a hike, the lookout itself is worth the stop.
Howells Knob Lookout
For a quiet spot with panoramic countryside views, head to Howells Knob Lookout. It’s a hidden gem that showcases the rolling hills and farmland around Maleny — perfect for a peaceful sunset.
